The isolated high-security Vastria CCAC camp is due to open in autumn 2025, which could make living conditions even worse. Organisations assume that the freedom of movement of the refugees in the isolated camp in the middle of a nature reserve will be severely restricted and that a life as it currently exists on the island will no longer be possible.

The work ‘Left in Limbo’ describes the state of uncertainty in which many people find themselves - they do not know whether their asylum application will be successful or how the new camp will affect their lives. In the meantime, they fall back on the many opportunities they have created over the last ten years with the support of NGOs and volunteers.
